Ways To Improve Website Ranking In 2022

Most of the strategies I’ve listed here use WordPress plugins, but this guide isn’t limited to WordPress. This principle applies to Blogger, Shopify stores, Woocommerce, Medium, and self-hosted websites. It even works for YouTube SEO.

Basics of SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is a method of reverse-engineering the way search engines (i.e. Google) work in order to rank higher in Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).

  • Why is “SEO Tips” are important?

Search Engine Optimization This is probably the most important competitive digital marketing advantage you have over the competition.

SEO Tips gives you free organic traffic that you would otherwise pay for (for example, through Google PPC Adwords or Facebook Ads). Easier said than done, ranking on the first page of Google is both a science and an art

In this day and age, if you rank higher than you are on the first page of Google, you will hardly get any traffic, so if you are serious about your online business, you need to get into the Search Engine Optimization game.

Ranking high for your target keywords not only puts you in the limelight but also helps you steal business from the competition. It creates brand awareness and helps you close more sales.

Now that you know what SEO is, read on to learn more about how SEO is done like a pro

SEO is affected by many factors such as your root domain (flux. la), your subdomain (, and the authority of the URL itself

Additionally, Google provides thousands of other tips when ranking websites, such as time on site, bounce rate, social shares, and more.

Remember, Google’s goal is to show visitors the best information in the first few results, so their algorithms have to analyze a lot of factors to achieve this.

We can divide these SEO ranking factors into two parts: on-page and off-page SEO.

  • Master these 8 on-page SEO factors and crush Google rankings

On-page SEO refers to any optimization you can make to the structure of your website itself. Here are the most important aspects

1. Optimize your meta title and meta description. Install Yoast SEO and make sure all your blog posts are green-lit. Make sure to fill in a keyword-rich title and description. By searching Google Adwords that appears when you search for keywords, you can find very valuable keywords with high conversion rates.

2. Increase page hits by adding any of the following proven keywords to your post’s title and description: today, now, quick, step by step, easy, guide. Also add the numbers, “22 Marketing Techniques You Must Try Today.” A high CTR will drive your page to the top of search results.

3. Use descriptive and direct URLs. For example

4. Link to Authorized Site. Various studies have shown that linking to high domain authority sites like Wikipedia or Harvard can improve your Google rankings. Make sure each post contains at least 3-4 outbound links.

5. Make your website load fast. In a webmaster’s blog, Google notes that page load time is one of the signals it considers when evaluating a site: “Faster sites attract users, and we’ve found in our internal research that when sites are slow to respond, visitors are The dwell time on that site will decrease.”

Here’s how you can increase your site speed

  • Install WP Super Cache (easy to use, less control) or W3 Total Cache (more control, harder to use)
  • If you are using WordPress, install Ewww Image Optimizer or Shortpixels to reduce image size.
  • Otherwise, you need to do the following
  • Compress HTML, JS, and CSS files via Gzip (don’t do images)
  • Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN) such as Amazon Cloudfront. (A CDN is a worldwide network of servers, all of which contain copies of your site. With a CDN, you distribute the load of serving pages so your site can load faster.)
  • Use Photoshop and optimize images for the web.

6. Get an SSL certificate (ie HTTPS). This will make your site more “legitimate” and will also give your search results a boost. Read Google’s official announcement on SSL.

7. Learn how to write the perfect 2500+ word SEO article. By perfection, I don’t just mean SEO, but also content, like this article, so you can get people on your website and get business from it.

8. add multimedia to your posts (i.e. pictures and videos). This will make your website more useful to users, and it will also make them spend more time on the website.

9. (Bonus) Please read my in-depth article covering SEO factors on all pages.

In short, make sure your user experience (UX) is top-notch.

After cleaning up on-page SEO,…

  • Don’t Forget These 3 Equally Important Off-Page SEO Factors

Here are some key elements most people are missing on off-page SEO:

1. You need tons of social signals. Yes, Google does care how much social traffic and shares your articles get. Here are some ideas to facilitate this.

  • Join a lot of Facebook groups in your niche. Post to all of these groups every time you create a new post, then repost every 2-3 months. This will increase your traffic like crazy, not to mention that every share, like, and comment will increase your social score.
  • As you can imagine, every time you want to promote an article, you spend a lot of time posting to 100s of Facebook groups. If you’ve been reading my articles, you’ll know that I hate performing repetitive tasks, so I recommend hiring a virtual assistant on Fiverr to help you be more productive.

2. It’s never too early to build news and strong backlinks from authority sites. Here, quality trumps quantity, although quantity cannot be ignored. Shout out to Forbes to have more than 100 down-level sites, but down-level sites can help you get a good amount of backlinks. Here’s how to get all those backlinks.

  • Build relationships with writers in your space so they can reach you not just once, but many times. Provide value before asking for anything. A great way to build a relationship is by accepting guest posts from them, showing them first on your blog. Connect with other bloggers and writers to find out if they want to cover up your story. My most effective methods of reaching out are via Facebook Messenger or Twitter (in that order), email requests will usually end up in the spam folder, but a well-crafted A/B testing campaign will get you good results. You can also use AuthoritySpy to find movers and movers in your industry.
  • If you’re an entrepreneur, I’ll play your part in the Future Shark project. I can give you more high-quality backlinks.
  • For starters, if you want to post on my site, be sure to send me a few sample writings and ideas (send the article directly in the first email). Find out more here.

Forget SEO, it’s time for search engines to rule

With the launch of Rankbrain, appearing first on Google does require 2 main events.

To control the results, you need two things: top-notch content + high-quality backlinks.

First, let’s dive into the content.

Related: Curious what other SEO experts think this is a 2022 trend?

  • How long should your article rank on the first page?

Often, long content will outweigh any other short form.

In a study of over a million blog posts, researchers found that the ideal length for a blog post is over 1,900 words, as shown in the graph below:

300-word blog posts won’t decrease in the long run for the following reasons: People will just click on your website, read the article in 30 seconds and leave, without giving you a chance to convert that click into a customer.

Also, long-form articles will naturally contain healthy keyword content throughout the text, rather than be crammed with 300-word articles, 50 of which are just your target keywords.

  • Note the structure of this blog post. Learn how I naturally included multiple variations of the keywords I was targeting (called LSI keywords) ” how to do SEO “, ” search engine optimization tips and tricks “, ” SEO WordPress ” and more. Please pay special attention to all subheadings

What’s more, long content increases the time on site (also known as dwell time) that someone spends on your site, a key metric for rankings.

The general strategy for writing a blog post is to create an article that adds value (I hope like this one). This naturally leads you to write a lot of content. For example, this blog post is about 3600 words.

You must be committed to writing the best article on your chosen topic. The easiest way to do this is to search for a keyword and compress the top 10 search results. For more information, check out Skyscraper Technology by Brian Dean.

Now we are satisfied. We need to focus on backlinks.

  • Backlinks are the Holy Grail of SEO

How do you get backlinks?

  • Check the backlink profiles of competitor pages by copying and pasting the link into Ahrefs or SEMrush.
  • From there, look at each site that links to them, and then try to backlink to yours.
  • You can also buy an expiring domain name and get a 301 redirect to your website. You’ll get all the SEO juice these domains build. <- This is an underrated resource, as long as you can find a good domain name. Also, if you buy a domain name in a niche market, you can redirect all its traffic to your website.
  • You can write guest posts and podcasts.

The Best SEO Tools Ranked for 2022

As evidenced by this entire SEO blog post, I’m a big fan of tools and scripts that make my life easier.

I’ve probably tested over 30 tools over the years.

This is my personal favorite of my competitors. You can also read my full list of SEO tools.

1. (Paid) Ahrefs. This tool will allow you to monitor your competitors’ backlinks and perform advanced keyword research. My Lite plan is $100/month.

2. (charged) SEMRush. Similar to Ahrefs, but recently released a beta version of my favorite content optimizer. I’m on a free trial.

3. (Free) Google Keyword Planner. You can use the Keyword Planner to see search volume and difficulty for specific keyword groups.

4. (Free) Keywords are everywhere. I love seeing information about sales, CPC, and competition in every Google search I make.

5. (Free) SEOQuake. Show rich insights below each search result.

Happy to have:

1. (Free) Alexa Toolbar. Even though a website’s Alexa ranking has nothing to do with its SEO, I still find it extremely valuable to know how much traffic my website and competitor websites are getting and where it’s coming from. Here’s how to lower your Alexa rating.

2. (Free) Moz toolbar that helps me quickly see various metrics of a page (like its domain authority)

3. (Free) A brand new Chrome extension, SEO Minion, will help you analyze the on-page SEO health of any website.

So, what is the exact step-by-step SEO strategy to optimize my website?

I have a lot of websites (from insurance to interviews to digital marketing).

Although each site has its own tone and audience, the SEO principles are exactly the same.

Here is the blueprint I follow for each optimized site:

  • Define your content strategy

Ranking high doesn’t make any sense if that blog post doesn’t allow you to build relationships with readers, earn more Adsense revenue, or generate sales and signups.

So the first step in writing is to identify what you want to achieve with your post. Are you writing to generate leads? Collect emails? Do you want to be seen as an industry leader?

The goals of your content strategy will largely determine how you structure your blog posts.

For example, if you want to be a thought leader, you need to write long posts, to collect registration information, you need to more easily follow channels with comments (preferably a video at the top of the page).

  • Define your area of expertise (aka niche)

After you define your content strategy, think about what valuable information your readers will find.

If you’re writing about diet and weight loss with the hope of selling your program to subscribers, you want to connect with your readers through a series of thought leaders or experts who let them know and make you stand out. in that field.

You might even want to build an email list and then use email marketing to sell your products.

Once you know which messages resonate, you can find keyword inspiration faster.

  • Find the right keywords to target

Ranking for “SEO” is hard. Ranking for ” SEO Tips ” is a little easier (medium tail keywords).

How do you do proper keyword research?

You can use a variety of tools to find keywords with the best balance of difficulty and search volume.

At Ahrefs, you can go to “Keyword Research” and enter some keywords related to the blog post you want to write.

After the algorithm runs, the system will give you statistics for your keywords and other keywords you should consider.

Here I like to pick difficult keywords <60 and volume > 500. Hint: you can sort them on Ahrefs. (btw, I have nothing to do with Ahrefs, I just love their tools)

Once I’ve identified 3 or 4 keywords, I start writing.

(In my case, “best SEO tips“, “SEO optimization tips”, “WordPress SEO tips“)

Another way to find keywords is to use Search Console

Did you know that Google gives the #1 answer?

Yes, it’s just hidden under Search Console.

If you jump to Search Analytics, you can see valuable data, such as keywords you’ve already ranked for. It is recommended that you install the Keyword Anywhere Chrome browser add-on to view information such as monthly volume, CPC, and competition.

Sometimes it’s easier to optimize and update old blog posts than to write new ones. (For example, I frequently update this particular post to include information I might have missed).

When I want to update a post, I grab all the keywords that each post ranks for, put them in a Google doc, sort them by “quantity” or “competition”, and see if that solves anything Vulnerability. (For example, this article is missing a section on “Keyword Research,” so I’m adding it).

You can also use the keyword “everywhere” and find the keyword with a few Google searches.

  • Write Naturally SEO-Perfect Content

I already mentioned that you should consider 2500+ words.

Here’s how I wrote one of these monster posts with the least amount of effort and time.

First, I search for the keywords I found in step 3 to see what the top-ranking people are writing to see if they’re mentioning something I don’t know about. From there, I structure my post by just the title.

After strategically placing the keywords in the H2 header, the paragraphs almost write themselves. (From this step, you can outsource it to a writer if you want. I have experience with Freeeup)

After drafting your blog post, it’s time to do an SEO check through Yoast, a WordPress plugin. On focus keywords, I choose the highest volume keywords out of 3-4 target keywords.

After that, I include images and videos.

I hit publish, then pray and hope it ranks.

No, of course not. This is just the beginning, and the secret to the ranking is what happens later.

  • Rank content in a semi-automatic, semi-manual way

You don’t want to waste all your hard work writing the perfect blog post, right?

Blog posts are only valuable on the first page, otherwise, it really doesn’t matter. Expect.

Here are some of the things I do to rank for this type of content:

  • The easiest way to understand: Share on all my social media accounts. Here’s the trick to automating it all: use IFTTT and associate WordPress with all your accounts. This way, you can spend 10 minutes getting it all set up and never have to worry about it anymore. (This also builds you the golden social signals I mentioned earlier).
  • Using the Medium plugin on WordPress to automatically syndicate my content to Thrive Global (with the “canonical” tag of course.)
  • I already have a network curated by bloggers that will reference and share my content and create the necessary backlinks to help me rank higher. But Alejandro, how did you get it in the first place? Well, I followed this strategy to build relationships with bloggers.
  • Create an account on Future Sharks and submit a guest post with a link to the new post using the top keyword as anchor text. (Free high-quality backlinks)
  • Here are other sites I own where you can leave a message.

Another big benefit: building a reputation

When you become an authority in your niche, you will find it much easier to rank your content.

This is due to the fact that Google is now using humans to manually evaluate sites (200 other ranking factors).

If you can position yourself as an expert, you’ll smash the Google SERPs.

Here’s how to boost your personal brand:

  • There is an about page that explains why you are an expert on the subject you write about.
  • Keep podcasting, make YouTube videos, and win awards to give you more credibility.
  • Cited as a subject matter expert on many websites

How to Win Featured Snippets

If you’re not familiar, a curated snippet looks like this:

There are several types of featured snippets, such as:

  • List
  • Paragraph answer
  • Table

Since it takes up a lot of space on the search page, it is certain that it brings in a lot of clicks.

The way to get to a featured snippet is to rank in the top 10 for a given query.

However, not all queries have featured snippets. To check if a given query has featured snippets, you can use Ahrefs.

Find the Featured Snippets option under SERP Features.

Now, for a given query, try to answer it in the most concise way possible (less than 40 words)

Another tool you can use is AnswerThePublic.

that’s all. I just walked through the white hat for my own website and for my clients. Hope you find it valuable and you take action on it today.

Whatever you do, make sure you don’t fall into the trap and start doing some covert SEO tips like cloaking or spamming backlink building that can get Google punished. Plus, your high rankings will only be short-lived.
